John is working in collaboration with Dai Morgan and Joseph Waas on nesting succcess of urban birds and distribution of small mammals in urban environments. He is also working with Bruce Clarkson and others on the restoration of Waiwhakareke (Horseshoe Lake). Outside this relationship, he has documented bird distribution and abundance in Hamilton City and environs for Landcare Research, with particular emphasis on tui.
